Mitochondria

Mitochondria
Simple English Wikipedia

Mitochondria (from Greek mitos, a thread + khondrion, granule) are organelles, or parts of a cell. Their job is to make energy from the food that the cell takes in. It does this with a process called cellular respiration, which makes ATP, a molecule which the cell can use as a source of energy.[1]
