Seed Dispersal Video
Idaho Weed Awareness Campaign
We are looking at a close up of the seed heads of Rush Skeletonweed and Roger Batt explains that you can the seeds are so light here that they can travel in some cases 20-30 miles. Bryan Dallolio agrees that on a windy day, that's possible and even if it's not all in one shot, there is always next year and the year after. They are wind dispersed and this is exactly how they do it. He picks seed off the seed head and they fly away in the wind. He says you can see they are very light and have this nice plumed kind of a parachute shaped structure.
