/Home//Middle & High School Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is a process where plants make food; they use their leaves to trap light energy in order to change water, minerals and carbon dioxide into oxygen and organic compounds. Most plants have a chemical called chlorophyll that is used in photosynthesis; chlorophyll absorbs energy from the sun and turns it into chemical energy. Most plants quit producing chlorophyll in the fall; that process leads to leaves changing color.
